Tuning time estimates
Time estimates reflect average procedure times and do not account for unforeseen delays such as equipment failure. Procedural interruptions which are less than one hour are not captured. Such interruptions include, but are not limited to, machine configuration changes and tuning.
Procedure | Time |
---|---|
520 MeV Cyclotron start-up | 24 hours |
BL1A [1] | +24 hours |
BL1B [1] | +8 hours |
BL2A [1] | +24 hours |
BL2C [2] | +4 hours |
[1] - Tuning the first high energy beam of the year will cause instability for all users. BL2A should be off or at low current when first tuning BL1A to avoid ISAC target damage.
[2] - Minor interruptions to other users when starting 2C4.
Procedure | Time |
---|---|
Maintenance | 2 hours |
Beam Development | 4 hours |
If Main Magnet has been off | +1 hours |
If Ion Source Filament or tune changed | +8 hours |
Procedure | Time |
---|---|
BL1A<->BL1B | 2 hours |
BL2A2<->BL2A3 | 4 hours |
BL2C1<->BL2C4 | 1 hour |
Procedure | Time |
---|---|
Establishing a tune for a new energy in BL1B [3] | 4 hours |
Changing energy in BL2C1 or STF target change at 2C4 [4] | 1 hour |
[3] - Not disruptive to other beamline users.
[4] - May be disruptive to other beamline users. Estimate includes downtime, start-up, and tuning time.
